All westbound lanes on Highway 1 at Kensington are now open!
As of January 17, 2026, at 4:50 PM, DriveBC has confirmed that the earlier blockage caused by a collision has been fully resolved. Initially, multiple lanes were rendered unusable due to an incident involving several vehicles, leading to significant traffic delays for commuters.
For those caught in the aftermath, it’s worth noting that while there was a report stating the highway was mostly closed except for the HOV lane, the reality is that all lanes were indeed blocked until recently. Thankfully, traffic flow has returned to normal.
We’re currently seeking further details from BC Emergency Health Services regarding the crash, aiming to provide more clarity on the situation.
While the congestion is clearing up, drivers should still prepare for some lingering delays as traffic begins to normalize.
