Lewis Hamilton's Concern for Isack Hadjar's Red Bull Move: Too Soon? (2026)

A Formula 1 Concern: Lewis Hamilton's Thoughts on Isack Hadjar's Red Bull Move

In a recent interview, Lewis Hamilton shared his honest worries about the upcoming career move of Isack Hadjar, a young and talented driver. But here's where it gets controversial...

It was officially confirmed this week that Hadjar, after an impressive first season in F1 with Racing Bulls, will be joining the prestigious Red Bull team alongside Max Verstappen for the 2026 season. This promotion is a significant step up for Hadjar, who will be replacing Yuki Tsunoda as Verstappen's teammate.

Since Daniel Ricciardo's departure in 2018, Red Bull has had a revolving door of teammates for Verstappen, each facing the challenge of matching his driving style and pace. Even Sergio Perez, with his vast experience of 281 grand prix starts, struggled to keep up with Verstappen over four years. Now, Hadjar, with just 23 grand prix starts under his belt, is set to take on this daunting task.

Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, expressed his concerns about Hadjar's move. "I'm not going to lie, it does worry me," he said. "Isack has shown incredible talent and potential this year, but he's still very young and learning. He's done phenomenally well, but the jump to Red Bull is a big one."

Red Bull is known for its high-pressure environment and unique challenges. Hamilton, who has never driven for the team, acknowledged this: "I've not been there, but from the outside, it looks difficult. Hadjar seems to have a good setup at Racing Bulls, and Yuki is an exceptional driver. Yet, most drivers who join Red Bull face similar experiences."

Hamilton hopes for changes within the team to support Hadjar adequately. "It's clearly a different beast at Red Bull. I just hope they make the necessary adjustments to provide Isack with the right support."
