Dr. Oz EXPOSES Minnesota's $1 Billion Medicaid Fraud Scandal! (2026)

A shocking warning has been issued: Minnesota could lose crucial federal funding due to alleged widespread Medicaid fraud. Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator, has put Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on notice, demanding immediate action to restore the integrity of the state's Medicaid program. But what's really at stake here? Let's dive in.

Dr. Oz's warning, delivered via a post on X, centers around claims of a massive fraud scheme, potentially exceeding $1 billion, allegedly perpetrated by individuals within Minnesota's Somali community. He raises the serious concern that some of these funds may have been funneled to the Somali terrorist group, al-Shabab. This is a very serious accusation.

"Our staff at CMS told me they’ve never seen anything like this in Medicaid — and everyone from Gov. Tim Walz on down needs to be investigated, because they’ve been asleep at the wheel," Oz stated. He's not mincing words, is he?

To rectify the situation, Dr. Oz has laid out a strict 60-day plan for Governor Walz, including:

  • Providing weekly updates on anti-fraud efforts to CMS.
  • Freezing enrollment of high-risk providers for six months.
  • Verifying all current providers as legitimate or removing them.
  • Submitting a comprehensive corrective action plan to prevent future fraud.

But here's where it gets controversial... Oz has warned that if the state fails to comply, the federal government will cease its financial contributions to these programs. This could have a devastating impact on Minnesota's healthcare system.

Oz highlighted the dramatic cost increases in two recent Minnesota Medicaid programs. The Housing Stabilization Services program, initially projected at $2.6 million annually, reportedly paid out over $100 million in 2024. The Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program skyrocketed from $3 million in 2018 to nearly $400 million in 2023. These numbers are staggering.

"These scammers used stolen taxpayer money to buy flashy cars, purchase overseas real estate and offer kickbacks to parents who enrolled their kids at fake autism treatment centers," Oz explained. He further alleged that some of the funds may have even reached the Somali terrorist group, al-Shabab. He also added, "So why didn’t Walz stop them? That’s simple: because he went all-in on identity politics."

And this is the part most people miss... Minnesota officials previously reported the issue to CMS, but according to Oz, they failed to take effective action. "We stepped in and shut down the worst program: housing. We also froze provider enrollment in a few of the most abused programs," he said.

Former President Donald Trump has also weighed in, announcing investigations into fraud schemes in Minnesota, which he labeled a "hub of money laundering activity." This has led to the termination of deportation protections for hundreds of Somali migrants. Senior Trump administration officials have announced new investigations, including a Treasury Department probe into the alleged diversion of taxpayer dollars to al-Shabab.

Governor Walz's office has yet to comment on these serious allegations.

What do you think? Do you believe the state is doing enough to combat fraud? Are the accusations against Governor Walz justified? Share your thoughts in the comments below. We're eager to hear your perspective!
